YOU EVER HEARD of an "earworm?" That's one of those pesky tunes that keeps running over and over in your head!
Recently a friend (Jolene Mueller of Algona, Iowa) handed me a cassette of an album project that Kevin Conner and I collaborated on back in 1986 with songwriter Dennis Van Hove. These were a bunch of Dennis's originals that Kevin and I put music to and then recorded in my studio.
I eagerly listened to this cassette as I hadn't heard these songs in probably at least 30 years. The recordings brought back many memories of Dennis - who passed away last May in Nashville.
Dennis was a super-nice guy with a quirky sense of humor. And as a
songwriter, he always had novel lyrics with memorable hooks. And sure
enough, after I'd listened to this cassette, one of those old tunes kept
playing over and over in my head - in fact I couldn't get it out of my head.
The song somehow incorporated itself into my dreaming last night, and I woke up with it playing over and over! It was definitely an earworm - big time!
I figured the only way I could purge myself of this repeating melody (it's definitely the chorus that keeps repeating over and over) was to foist it on you folks!
So I've uploaded it to YouTube. Click here to listen . . . if you dare!
