DOUG'S NOTES:

The song idea for "Sad Angel" was inspired by a young lady who used to come to our dances. She suffered from a type of PTSD brought on by severe physical and emotional abuse. Her refuge and solace was the dance floor where at times she'd dance solo - seemingly lost in a world of her own.

As I recall the lyrics came pretty quickly, although I do remember doing a fair amount of rewriting. The background tracks for this demo were recorded using the internal sequencer of my Korg M-1 keyboard. So all the music heard is coming from the M-1 with the exception of a haunting guitar part recorded by Mike Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

"Sad Angel" was a demo track I'd recorded back in the late '90s. I had considered including it on an album project that we'd had in the works at the time; but a master recording was never done, and the song was never released.

  1. Really should publish on an album - great song and story behind it brings extra meaning to what you do.

  2. I think it is beautiful in sound, your inspiration of words, and her soul being able to feel healing in the music. Thank you for the song and I think it should be recorded for the sad angels we have here on earth.
